TomTom U.S.A. App Reviews

Up date disaster

Have been using this app for years. Have been going to this location for a year. After the latest update the app no longer brings me to the correct location. On the reverse trip the route used the large roads even though it made for a longer trip. App needs help immediately.

Maps are Screwed up, Dont Update

On the interstate, every exit is treated like a transition so that you get a voice prompt to stay left every few miles. Possibly as a result, the traffic report appears to be wrong as well. VERY ANNOYING !!!

Bad slow apps

Not very happy with the purchase with many issues on the apps. Cant navigate the maps at all unlike google map or waze which is free but better experience. This map look ugly....

Works fine except for audio prompts

Ive this and every udpdate. Seems to be random as to when the voice prompts work. Not sure if this is the app or Apple iOS. Used to ALWAYS give voice prompts with the old iPhone 3G iOS 4.2.0 When I updated to an iPhone 6 and iOS 7 and above it seemed to start failing. I suspect this audio issue is Apples code team messing up the application hooks. Other than this, and the occassional routing issue works well.

In app purchases still do not work

Do not waste your time with this overpriced app. I bought it when it was $50 several years ago. In app purchases do not work. I was charged for the traffic subscription but it would never activate. Google maps is far superior to TomTom now, and its free.

Want my money back

I paid $0.99 for the traffic feature and it does not work. Do not sell something that does not work.

Big Miss

Also long time user, latest version no longer offers annual traffic service and monthly service subscription doesnt work. Called tech support, no help. Without traffic service in my area app really has no advantage over Apple Maps or Google Maps, and they are free. Been slow to abandon TomTom, but goodbye!

Defaults setup is foolish

I read the negative reviews here, but purchased it because I am in outsides sales and occasionally the lack of quality LTE means either a onboard map app or a separate device. What stuns me is most of the issues are with the foolish default settings. It comes with auto update turned OFF. To get current maps you have to go to setting, advanced and turn on Map share, then back to setting maps, turn on map sharing, restart, go to setting share update, set it to auto, turn on Wi-Fi and then click check for corrections. Should that not be the default?? Why must I go click check for corrections if I set it to auto?? Then if you want the map to update at a reasonable rate, (not to mention being close to finding you) you need to go to setting, advanced and turn GPS enhanced on. Did you think we paid a premium for an IPhone with its Motion Processors & Augmented GPS because we don’t want to use them??? Also you have turn on data services for most of the features to work, also hidden under advanced. It actually works great, if you spend 30 minutes going through the set up menus to enable all the features. It is as though it pre-sets itself for an IPhone 3 with no cellular service. Other than the ugly cheap tom-tom looking maps, it works great. It would be a great app if came configured to use all the features people expect to get from their IPhone.....not preconfigured in the lowest performing setting possible.

Crashes a lot.

Long time fan of Tom Tom but it crashed 7x on my last trip before I gave up and used Apple Maps.

App stopped working at all

Need I say more???

Phenomenal Navigation App

I have no idea why there are negative reviews for this app. Its phenomenal. Ive used both but and Garmin and personally find tomtom to be a cleaner, friendlier experience. Both are great for offline navigation, but for me, tomtom is the way to go

I used to love this app

But always had trouble getting the live traffic subscription to update. And I live in New York City so I must have live traffic to make it worthwhile. Suddenly tom-tom went to a monthly subscription and I cannot get the in app purchase of live traffic to connect to the app. So Ive abandoned this and gone to Garmins Navigon. Fingers crossed that that will be better.

Since day one and still the BEST

I just dont see all these so called problems people are having Ive had this app since day one and it has ALWAYS done great Updates always fix everything Great Job Tom Tom Ive NEVER had a problem with Tom Tom. Tom Tom is the BEST

Tomtom with Dual 160

Dont understand some of the complaints. This app and everything Tomtom does is top of the line. To even compare to or suggest that Apple Map or Google Maps are as good or better is ridiculous. Tomtom is a specialized Sat Nav company and the others are not. I like the Live Traffic although it is not much use to me unless headed for the Twin Cities. So glad I do not live in NYC or anywhere near the East Coast. Im guessing that is where the complainers are from. This app performs wonderfully in the nighttime pitch black wide open spaces of the upper Midwest and Western Mountain states when you absolutely cannot see your next turn coming up. On roads where an error could have you stuck in snow up to your windows or sinking in a lake or slough.

A good GPS app with room for improvement.

First let me state the positives of this app the real-time traffic updates are excellent the speed limit changes are very very accurate and the app does not seem to crash when I use it. Now for the negative The user interface looks like my first tom-tom that I got almost 10 years ago yes it could use some improvement. Hopefully they will improve this feature of the app but for now it does what its supposed to do navigate me to my destination with real-time traffic and speed limits

Outdated, outclassed, broken

Hasnt had a significant update in years. Still underestimates rush hour traffic delays every day. Traffic subscription is broken ("Activating subscription" spins forever) and requires contacting customer service to fix. Crashes all the time. Disgraceful.

Its time to bring graphics up to date

I think its one of the best navigations out there. Very accurate traffic, safety cameras but its the time to update the UI graphics. Update: The app stopped working on iPhone 6S +. After a few seconds of driving it crashes and to fix that I have to reinstall it. Than it works for a while and than again crashes.

Best offline GPS

For a serious road trip this is the way to go. Just got back from a 2000 mile each way trip. This app worked great, Google proved to be way to buggy. It also shows current speed and speed limit which neither apple or google show.

Opinion

I was hoping tom-tom with slice the size of this map into regions to take up less space on the Apple products. I also was hoping for different map colors.

Extremely Dissappointed

Did some really weird stuff! It was telling me to exit on the right side every 2 or 3 miles. He kicker...there were no right side exits. I finally figured out it was wanting me to go into and out of the carpool lane. It had me exit the freeway only to drive through and around a bunch of construction on side streets and on ramps (but not on freeway) to ultimately get right back on the freeway I just exited! At one point it rerouted me to a different city 90 minutes south of my starting point. I was traveling east! With all the weird crap TomTom did coupled with traffic it took 6 hours to go what should have been 1.5 hours. Do not recommend TomTom app at all!
